"Life" juice box packaging (student project)

Brief

The aim of this project was to create a series of illustrations for the 1 liter carton box of "Life" juices. "Life" is the first chilled juice series in Greece launched in 1989 by Delta Foods S.A., the No1 Greek dairy producer and a member of Vivartia Group, the leading food company in Greece.

Idea

The idea was to create 2 new "Life" juice series based on superfruits:

-Tropical superfruits (pineapple, watermelon, passionfruit)
Origin: Africa.

-Superfruits of the forest (blueberries, cranberries, blackberries)
Origin: America.

Inspiration

Superfruits are those fruits which in small quantities manage to concentrate an abundance of beneficial nutrients that the human body can absorb and make good use of. These rfruits have an almost magical property to protect and fortify our body and health.

The magical property of the superfruits to protect our health and body as well as their origin have lead to the design inspiration of the 2 new "Life" juice series: African masks, American Indian masks and totems. American Indian and African tribes ascribed magical properties and powers to the masks and in some cases they used those objects to protect themselves from the evil spirits.

Therefore, for the juice boxes of the tropical superfruits, a series of illustrations and patterns inspired from the traditional African masks, fabrics and other traditional objects were created. For the juice boxes of the forest superfruits the inspiration for the illustrations and patterns created came from American Indian masks and totems as well as traditional fabrics and objects.

Artwork

To keep a connection between the two series and give a more fun tone, the illustrations depict animals that have colours and characteristics related to the corresponding fruit in each occasion. These animals come to "Life" by tasting the juice of their fruit.
